GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Lexie Hearn (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) scored a goal and added an assist to lead Gettysburg to a 4-0 win over Washington (Md.) in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium.
With the win, Gettysburg snapped a two-game losing streak and improved its record to 9-5 overall and 5-2 in CC play. Washington fell to 2-10 overall and 2-5 in the CC.
Outshooting the Shorewomen 18-2 in the first half, Gettysburg built a 2-0 lead halftime. Cristi Farrell (Broomall, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) scored an unassisted goal at 7:25 in the game, and Lauren Woodman (Denver, Colo./Kent Denver) tallied a strike at 29:17. Woodman battled in front of the net to put the ball in the cage, and Hearn assisted the play.
Gettysburg added to its lead just 3:59 into the second half when Hearn tallied an unassisted goal. A late tally was added by Krissy Browning (Baldwin, Md./Fallston) at 69:28. Maura Downey (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) fed the ball to the middle of the circle and the ball deflected off of Browning's stick for the score. The assist was Downey's seventh of the season.
Katherine Corkhill (Paoli, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame) made two saves while recording her first shutout of the season. Elena Nicholoff made 12 saves in the loss.
Gettysburg ended with a 24-3 advantage in shots and held a 14-6 penalty corner advantage.
The Bullets return to action at home on Wednesday against McDaniel. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
